The
two-Component Field
Since Dr. Bayer
invented polyurethane (PU) foam in 1936, two-component reactive
liquid systems have become a major aspect of everyday industrial
production. Apart from PU foams and their derivative elastomers,
reactive chemical systems now include epoxies, acrylics, silicones,
polysulphides and polyesters. Their uses, in terms of bead,
shot of dot application, include bonding, sealing, structural
composite fabricating, encapsulating, impregnating, coating,
moulding, mould making and rapid prototyping through to electrical,
thermal and fire insulating,
Processing the
two-component reactive liquid systems involves the accurate
metering of both liquids in ratio to each other prior to their
being mixed together. Ratios are by weight or volume and usually
range from 1:1 to 10:1 according to their individual specification.
After mixing, resins may also require dispensing in a specific
metered volume or at specific metered rate.
Over the last
30 years or so, and as a result of a dramatic increase in
their use, it became vital to develop ways to simplify their
packaging, storage, handling and the final metering, mixing
and dispensing process. The following are now key to this
requirement.
Cartridge
Systems
These are normally
purchased by the chemical companies who specialise in the
packaged supply of two-componants systems and who need to
package their products in user friendly and reliable meter-mix-dispense
devices. MIXPAC side by side cartridge systems are accurate,
reliable and ideal for low volume use. A cartridge system
includes the cartridge and its components, static mixer and
the relevant manual or pneumatic dispenser/gun.
Machine Mixers
(Disposable and non-disposable)
MIXPAC has a
broad range of static disposable mixers, (plastic) and non
disposable mixers (st.st.). There are also rotary mixers (plastic)
where high shear mixing is required.
DX Machine
This is new and
patented product range from MIXPAC based upon an original
concept by Laurence Penn. The DX is a simple, mass produced,
low cost, yet all round performance machine in hand held, stand
mounted, robot mounted and backpack versions.
DX Recharging
From Drums
Metix has developed
a range of equipment for recharging DX containers
from drums.
